Greece is developing strict restrictions for underage Internet users
The Greek government has presented a new strategy to protect minors from internet addiction and excessive use of social networks. About this informs Euronews.
One of the key initiatives will be the launch of a special “Kids Wallet” application, which should be launched in the spring. This tool will help strengthen parental control over the use of mobile devices among teenagers.
The Minister of Digital Policy of Greece, Dimitris Papastergiou, noted that the program is aimed at protecting children under 15 from the risks associated with excessive and inappropriate use of the Internet. The application will work on the basis of the public services platform and will include modern algorithms to monitor activity and ensure strict authentication of users.
“The Kids Wallet app will do two main things: it will greatly simplify parental controls and become our official national tool for verifying the age of users.” – emphasized the minister.
The government plans to have the app integrated into smartphones sold in Greece by the end of 2025. This is part of a broader strategy aimed at protecting minors from the negative effects of the Internet. There is also provision for the creation of a special web resource for parents, where they can find information about available control functions and get detailed instructions on how to use them.
