Hamas announced the end of the war in the Gaza Strip

Hamas chief spokesman Khalil al-Hayya announced the “ceasefire” and “permanent ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip. Earlier, Hamas and Israel agreed on the first phase of a peace plan to stop hostilities in Gaza. reports Al Jazeera.

“We received assurances from fraternal mediators and the US administration, who confirmed that the war is completely over”, Khalil al-Haya stressed.

According to him, Israel should release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences in Israeli prisons, as well as 1,700 Gazans arrested since the beginning of the war.

At the same time, the Israeli government approved an agreement on the release of all hostages held by the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. According to the agreements, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) will move troops to new positions inside the Gaza Strip. After that, a 72-hour period will begin during which Hamas must release all hostages.

Recall that on October 9, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the peace plan. According to him, Hamas must release the Israeli hostages captured on October 7, 2023, “on Monday or Tuesday” next week, i.e. October 13 or 14.
