Hetmantsev revealed the details of the new law on cryptocurrencies

On Thursday, April 24, the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy will consider a draft law related to virtual assets. About the details of the new law told the head of the committee Danylo Hetmantsev.
According to him, the document of more than 200 pages covers all the key aspects related to crypto-assets, including the order of their circulation, defining the roles of regulators and taxation issues. Regarding taxation, Hetmantsev noted that payment of income tax is expected.
“That is, the difference between what the crypto-asset owner spent during the reporting annual tax period on the purchase of crypto-assets and the income he received from the sale of these assets is taxable.” he explains.
As part of the transition period, citizens will be able to sell crypto-assets and declare income from operations at a rate of 5% within one year, without the obligation to confirm the costs of their acquisition in the past.
We will remind that this year Ukrainian officials declared 10% more cryptocurrency than in the previous year. In total, the declarations for 2024 recorded more than 2,000 mentions of digital assets.
