How much do Ukrainians earn in different EU countries
The average salary of Ukrainians currently working in European countries is many times higher than the amounts paid to workers in Ukraine. However, the cost of living, especially renting a house, in Poland or Germany is also higher than in Ukraine. According to the results of a study by the EWL Migration Platform and the Center for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw, 70% of able-bodied Ukrainians in Germany and 73% in the Netherlands rate their financial situation as “average”.
If we talk about refugees of all age groups, then in the Netherlands, 81% of them still receive one or another type of social assistance. In Germany, this figure is 63%.
The average salary of Ukrainians in Germany is 1,334 euros after taxes. In the Netherlands, our fellow citizens “cleanly” receive 1104 euros per month.
At the same time, 12% of Ukrainians in Germany earn more than 2,000 euros per month, and 22% – less than 500 euros. Another 12% of our fellow citizens earn from 500 to 1000 euros per month. The “net” salaries of the rest of the Ukrainians in Germany (56%) range from 1,000 to 2,000 euros.
In the Netherlands, only 7% of Ukrainian citizens receive more than 2,000 euros after taxes. 25% earn less than €500 per month, and another 25% earn between €500 and €1,000. The rest of our fellow citizens (43%) earn from 1,000 to 2,000 euros per month.
If we talk about other countries, then in Poland most of our citizens earn less than 5 thousand zlotys (48-49 thousand UAH) per month. At the same time, the average salary in the country currently exceeds 7.1 thousand zlotys.
Starting next month, Poland plans to raise the minimum wage to 4,300 zlotys per month or 28.1 zlotys per hour. This is about 3,260 zlotys after taxes.
For comparison: in Ukraine during the first quarter of this year the average salary was 18,903 hryvnias. If you deduct the EUV tax, about 15,000 hryvnias will remain. It is currently around 350 euros.
