In Germany, an investigation is being conducted against 17 police officers on suspicion of abuse of office

In Germany, the prosecutor’s office is investigating the actions of 17 police officers from the first station of Frankfurt am Main, who are suspected of causing bodily harm, obstructing justice and persecuting innocent people. reports Tagesschau.

On October 10, the Frankfurt prosecutor’s office together with the State Criminal Administration conducted large-scale searches with the participation of 150 law enforcement officers. 17 policemen were in the center of attention, searches took place in four police stations and at 21 private addresses.

According to the prosecutor’s office, it is about five women and twelve men aged 24 to 56 who work in the patrol service and in managerial positions. They are accused of causing “unjustified physical injuries” six men detained during or after their arrests between February and the end of April 2025, and obstruction of justice.

Acts of violence likely included punching, kicking and head banging against walls and doors, according to prosecutors’ spokesman Dominic Meas. In one of the cases, the victim was allegedly pushed down the stairs. Victims who came forward and initiated the investigation reportedly suffered cuts, bruises on their faces, and in one case, a broken nose.

It is noted that there are video recordings of the actions of the suspects. The investigation has been ongoing since July. During the searches, several mobile phones and data carriers were seized, which are currently being analyzed. According to the representative of the prosecutor’s office, there is currently no evidence that the actions of the police had extremist motives.
