In Kharkiv, a member of the OPZZH was exposed, who organized a scheme to evade mobilization
Law enforcement in Kharkiv exposed the 46-year-old vice-rector of one of the local universities, who organized a large-scale scheme to evade mobilization. The man is also a non-factional deputy of the Kharkiv Regional Council of the 8th convocation, elected from the banned pro-Russian party “OPZH”.
He involved two accomplices in the scheme – employees of another educational institution. During 2024, the participants of the scheme produced forged documents and entered false data into the Unified State Electronic Database on Education (UEDEBO). Thanks to this, men of conscription age illegally received a postponement from mobilization.
Actually, none of the “students” attended classes or took exams – “education” existed exclusively on paper. The investigation establishes the number of persons who avoided service thanks to falsified certificates.
Law enforcement officers conducted 36 searches at the places of residence and work of the persons involved, seizing documents, drafts and mobile phones confirming their illegal activities.
Under the procedural leadership of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Deputy of the Regional Council and his accomplices were charged with obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court chose a preventive measure for the deputy in the form of detention.
Pre-trial investigation and operational support is carried out by the SBU Department in the Kharkiv region.
