In Kharkiv region, a morgue employee is suspected of stealing the property of deceased servicemen
In the Kharkiv region, a morgue employee is suspected of appropriating the personal belongings of Ukrainian soldiers who died in the Kupyansk direction. According to the investigation, he did not act alone: earlier, within the framework of the same proceedings, his colleague, a junior nurse, was exposed, whose case is still being considered by the court.
Law enforcement officers established that a junior medical officer was involved in the crime brother of the Chuguiv branch of the State Criminal Investigation Department “Kharkiv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination”. According to the investigation, he took away the mobile phones of fallen servicemen, and during the searches, stolen gadgets were found on him.
The man was reported on suspicion of theft committed under martial law, repeatedly (Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The prosecutor’s office insists on keeping him in custody, and the investigation is checking whether the defendant could have been involved in other similar cases.
“Such disrespect for the memory of soldiers who defended the state at the cost of their own lives is immoral and unacceptable. A fair verdict in this case is a matter of honor for justice and a duty to every hero whose peace was brazenly violated for the sake of profit,” the prosecutor’s office emphasized.
They also mentioned a previous case in the Zhytomyr region: a 49-year-old morgue employee was convicted there for cutting off a gold wedding ring from the hand of a deceased defender, giving it to a pawnshop and receiving almost 4 thousand hryvnias for it.
