Ukraine is creating an echelon system to counter Russian drones: Syrskyi

In the Defense Forces, work continues to strengthen capabilities in countering the “Shaheed” type of attack drones, with which Russia systematically attacks the territory of Ukraine. The armed forces are working on the creation of an echeloned defense system, reported the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskiy following the results of a meeting devoted to development in this direction.

“We are creating an echeloned system of countermeasures against enemy “shaheds” and “geranium”. Our common task is to form more such crews, train more fighter operators, provide them with more effective means of destruction and radars, explained Oleksandr Syrskyi.

He noted that he listened to reports on the effectiveness of tasks performed by UAV-interceptor units, providing them with the necessary drones, increasing effectiveness in the fight against Russian drones, and existing problems.

Syrsky emphasized that the direction of air defense is key for both the state and the Defense Forces:

“After all, the security of the Ukrainian rear depends on the effectiveness of our anti-shahed system, on the reliability of anti-missile defense. Therefore, we are continuing the selection of personnel to complete the crews of UAV interceptors, forming new full-time units.

According to the results of the meeting, the general set the task of eliminating the identified shortcomings and intensifying work in the field of using interceptor drones.
