Registration for grant programs to support business in front-line regions has started in Ukraine
In Ukraine, registration for two grant programs aimed at supporting business in frontline regions has started. It is about assistance for self-employed persons and micro-businesses, as well as for small and medium-sized enterprises. Businessmen from eight front-line regions can apply: Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy and Zaporizhia. The programs cover both local businesses and relocated companies.
“Supporting the frontline regions is one of the government’s priorities. Grant programs launched within BLOOM are aimed at helping micro, small and medium-sized businesses operating in such regions. The support will help entrepreneurs expand or modernize production, create new jobs,” said Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi.
There are two programs for entrepreneurs in the frontline regions. The first is individual cash assistance for the self-employed, households and micro-entrepreneurs affected by the war. The amount of financing is from 1,000 to 5,000 USD in hryvnia equivalent. Funds can be used to purchase equipment, tools or other means for starting or developing your own business. Assistance is provided by Mercy Corps in partnership with “Caritas Ukraine”, “Free People’s Employment Center”, “Alliance Global” and “Tenth of April”.
The second program provides financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the amount of 17,000 to 30,000 USD in hryvnia equivalent. Funds are provided for the purchase of production fixed assets. Implementation is carried out by Mercy Corps in cooperation with West Ukraine Digital.
Participant selection criteria are the same for both programs: the presence of social or financial vulnerability, a business idea that involves developing activities, increasing profits or creating/saving jobs, a clear justification of the need for financial support, social or inclusive impact of the business, relevant experience or skills in the field, a positive business reputation and a realistic implementation plan. For small and medium-sized enterprises, co-investment of own funds in the amount of up to 50% of the grant amount is also required.
Selected participants will receive consulting and organizational assistance in the process of implementing their business ideas. The program will last until March 31, 2026.
