In Kyiv, a general contractor who embezzled 6 million hryvnias during the construction of the Podilsky Bridge was exposed

A general contractor who is suspected of misappropriating budget funds during repair work on the Podilsk bridge crossing was exposed in Kyiv. About this informs Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in 2020, the general contractor for the construction of the Podilsky Bridge entered false data about the volume and cost of underwater works performed by a subcontractor. It is about cleaning metal structures from fouling at a depth of 12-20 meters with the involvement of a diving station. The subcontractor estimated these works at over 6 million hryvnias, however, according to the conclusions of the judicial construction-technical and economic expertise, these works were not actually carried out.

The investigation established that the general contractor deliberately overestimated the scope of work in order to appropriate budget funds. The corresponding indictment has already been submitted to the court, but the investigation continues, and the law enforcement officers continue to collect evidence.

We will remind that on December 1, 2023, the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge was opened for special transport. In addition, the Kyiv authorities previously reported that the capital would build a passage from the Podilsky bridge crossing 24 hours a day and equip a tunnel near the Raiduzhny railway station.
