In Odesa, the head of the department of the military hospital was detained, who demanded money for declaring a conscript to be of limited fitness
Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Southern region, the head of the department of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Southern region was exposed and detained while receiving an illegal benefit.
According to the investigation, in June 2025, the suspect demanded 2 thousand US dollars from a conscript for assistance in obtaining a conclusion from a military medical commission (MMC), which would allow the man to be recognized as limitedly fit for service. Such a conclusion would open up the possibility of his serving in support units, training centers, logistics or other non-combat units.
The conscript reported the extortion to law enforcement agencies and continued to act under their control. In October, the official was detained “red-handed” while receiving the specified amount.
He was informed of suspicion under “Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine” (extortion and receiving illegal benefit). At the request of the prosecutor, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 605,600 hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Investigation Department of the Main Police Department in the Odessa region, operational support is provided by the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU.
