In Poland, the complete closure of the border with Belarus is being considered

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, said that the government is studying the possibility of closing border crossings with Belarus in response to the aggressive actions of the Belarusian services against Polish border guards and provocations by migrants.

Sikorsky emphasized, that the situation on Poland’s eastern border is a “fully controlled operation by Russian and Belarusian services”, and emphasized the inadmissibility of instructing migrants to attack the Polish military.

The Polish government is now analyzing the potential economic and social consequences of closing the border, particularly for local communities. Sikorsky gave the example of Finland, which closed crossings with Russia, which led to the cessation of cross-border traffic.

The decision to close the border will be made after a thorough analysis so that “Lukashenko feels their action, not us,” Sikorskyi said.

We will remind that the tension on the Polish-Belarusian border increased after the death of a Polish border guard who was stabbed during an attempt by migrants to break through the territory of Belarus. The Polish government has already supported the proposal to create a temporary buffer zone on the border, and the Belarusian side was handed a note of protest demanding to hand over the killer to the Polish authorities.
