He motivated his stay in Britain by work, but journalists say the opposite.
People’s deputy Andrii Zhupanyn (“Servant of the People”) during the full-scale war regularly travels to London, where he studies at a business school. He explains his trips as “parliamentary work” and official business trips, but Bihus journalists discoveredthat he rests there.
From June 11 to June 20, Zhupanin’s wife published photos and videos from London on social networks. In particular, on June 16, she published a photo from a restaurant in which Zhupanin was present, but later deleted it.
The “Rada” system confirmed the absence of a deputy in the parliament these days. The journalists decided to find out the official reasons for Zhupanin’s trips, since from January 2023, the departure of parliamentarians on non-state affairs is prohibited according to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council.
Zhupanin told reporters that he no longer goes to London to study, but only to work. According to him, he visited Britain three times in the last few months, the last time – from June 8 to 16.
“Over the past few months, I have been to London three times, each time the trip was related to the work of the friendship group between the parliaments of Ukraine and Great Britain. My last business trip to London fell on June 8-16 and took place at the official invitation of members of the British Parliament Dame Karen Anne Bradley and Alex Sobel,” Zhupanin said.
However, journalists could not find confirmation of the deputy’s parliamentary work in London these days. In social networks and on the official pages of British parliamentarians, there is no mention of Zhupanin or the working visits of representatives of Ukraine in June.
In addition, Zhupanyn was absent from the Council even after the end of his business trip. He explained this by taking a few days off to study.
The Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada reported that this deputy was not reimbursed for his business trip, and that he was given vacations without salary. However, they refused to provide details about Zhupanin’s official business trips since the beginning of his studies at the London business school.
