In the USA, as a result of the shooting at the Catholic school, there are wounded and dead
In the USA, in Minneapolis, there was a shooting at a Catholic school. Two people died, more than 20 were injured. The shooter is also dead, CBS News reports.
The attack took place around 9 am local time, immediately after morning prayers and before breakfast in the school canteen. As a result of the attack, 20 people were injured, seven are in serious condition. Ten children were taken to the nearest hospital, five more to a specialized children’s medical facility in Minneapolis. Two people died. The attacker also died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
20-year-old Robin Westman turned out to be the shooter at the US Catholic school. He described the attack in advance in his diary, written in Russian. The FBI is investigating a series of videos Westman posted online showing off weapons. In one of these videos, he can be seen slowly flipping through a notebook with chaotic notes and a drawing that probably depicts the Catholic Church of the Annunciation.
In addition, he published a manifesto in Russian in which he outlined his intentions to attack the church. The police reported that they are studying this document as part of the investigation into a possible motive for the mass shooting.
In a video shared on social media, several guns and bullets can be seen in a room that looks like a bedroom. The weapons and ammunition were labeled with racist and anti-Semitic language, as well as a call to kill President Trump. Some of the weapons were painted with phrases in Russian. In his videos, Westman also explained why he chose the Church of the Annunciation to attack. That’s where his mother, Mary Grace Westman, worked as a secretary until her retirement in 2021.
According to court documents, at age 17, Westman applied to change his name from Robert to Robin. In January 2020, the decision to change the name was officially adopted. The petition stated that he “identifies as a woman and wants her name to reflect that identity.”
US President Donald Trump said that he was “fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis:
“The FBI responded quickly and is on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this dire situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved”.
