In Ukraine, a large-scale scheme of illegal tobacco production was exposed: counterfeit excise stamps and unmarked products were seized
During large-scale searches at the five largest tobacco factories in Ukraine, fake excise stamps and unmarked cigarettes were found, which indicates the probable involvement of these enterprises in illegal activities.
About this reported Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
“The searches have not been completed. At the moment, procedural actions are underway to confirm the production of counterfeit cigarettes using the appropriate equipment. It will take some time, but it is not difficult if there is a desire, which is definitely there.“, Hetmantsev wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to him, thanks to the measures taken, it was possible to completely stop the production of illegal tobacco, and he expressed hope that this will be the final blow to this industry.
Hetmantsev also noted that these are not the last searches as part of the investigation of this case, and expressed gratitude to the Economic Security Bureau for their coordinated work.
At the same time, the chairman of the Council’s financial committee warned judges who may try to “block” the investigation, about the public’s attention to their actions.
“I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to that (thank God) small part of the judiciary that traditionally sympathizes with the illegal production of excise goods in its conflict with the law, which in some places is not ashamed to declare in its decisions. The people, certainly not now. There will be consequences. Society is very attentive follows the development of events. And attention is only increasing.”, – emphasized Hetmantsev.
