In Ukraine, the founding meeting of the founders of the National Organization for the Verification of Medicinal Products, created on the model of similar institutions in the EU member states, was held. This is reports the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Representatives of the Association of “Drug Manufacturers of Ukraine”, NGO “Association of Representatives of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers”, GS “Association of Manufacturers of Innovative Medicines”, NGO “Union of Employers’ Organizations of the Medical and Microbiological Industry of Ukraine” and NGO “Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers” joined the meeting.
During the meeting, decisions were made regarding the creation of the organization, approval of the charter, formation of the composition of the governing bodies, determination of the size of the authorized capital, and competitive selection for the position of executive director.
“Verification of medicinal products with 2D coding has become the main solution for many developed countries of the world in order to detect falsified medicinal products that are already on the market and to prevent this in the future. Therefore, the creation of the National Organization for the Verification of Medicinal Products brings us closer to the introduction of such a system in our country, which is also part of the implementation of EU standards in Ukraine”, – said Maria Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine on issues of digital development.
The purpose of the newly created organization is to prevent and counter the circulation of falsified medicinal products in Ukraine through close cooperation with European colleagues and the European Organization for the Verification of Medicinal Products. This will allow patients to be guaranteed safe and high-quality medicines, provide transparent control over their movement from the manufacturer to the pharmacy, and create additional protection mechanisms against counterfeit products entering the market.
