In Warsaw, local men attacked a group of Ukrainians

In Warsaw, local men attacked a group of Ukrainians near a store. The police confirmed that the motive was the nationality of the victims, reports Raport Warszawski.

The incident happened last Thursday. Near the store, several men attacked a group of young Ukrainians. The attackers did not limit themselves to insults – three of them brutally beat the foreigners. A woman who was with the victims called the police and recorded the incident on her phone. An investigative team from Byalolenka arrived at the scene, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses and compiled descriptions of the attackers. Due to the injuries of one of the victims, an ambulance was called.

“The police immediately started operations to identify and detain the attackers”, said Chief Superintendent Paulina Onishko.

The key piece of evidence was a video recording made by a witness. Investigators analyzed it and identified the attackers. The very next day, a 41-year-old man was detained, and later two more: a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old man were detained in an apartment in Byalolenka. During the search, mephedrone was found in the possession of the older one, which he admitted to possessing.

All three were charged with:

  • The 41-year-old will be responsible for participating in the attack.
  • The 28-year-old is charged with causing bodily harm, ethnic insult and threatening a witness.
  • The 36-year-old has been charged with assault, battery and drug possession, and his case is aggravated by recidivism.

The investigation is conducted by the prosecutor’s office of the Prague-Pulnoc district in Warsaw. The court took all three under police surveillance. Everyone is prohibited from contacting the victims and each other. For an attack and an insult based on a national identity, punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty is provided for up to five years, and for repeat offenders – more severe sanctions.
