OpenAI launches Company knowledge feature in ChatGPT for faster search of work information

OpenAI has introduced a new ChatGPT feature called Company knowledge, which allows you to quickly find information in your workspace without having to switch between apps. The update is available to Business, Enterprise, and Education plan users and is powered by GPT-5, with integrations with Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub.

The goal of the feature is to turn ChatGPT into a conversational search engine for businesses. Now the chatbot can simultaneously view all available data sources and provide accurate answers, including Slack messages, emails, Google Docs meeting notes, and Intercom support requests. Each answer is accompanied by clear links to the sources so the user can verify the information.

The feature is also able to recognize ambiguous questions. For example, if a user asks, “Where are we on the company’s goals for next year?” ChatGPT will search multiple sources simultaneously to eliminate inconsistencies. The tool applies date filters and can “think while searching,” which helps identify information across time periods.

Company knowledge must be manually enabled during a new conversation. While the feature is enabled, ChatGPT does not have access to web search and cannot create graphs or images. OpenAI says that in future updates, this feature will be integrated with other ChatGPT features, making workflows even more efficient.
