The Bureau of Economic Security conducts searches of food suppliers for the Ministry of Defense
At the request of BEB detectives, the Agency for Search and Management of Assets discovered almost UAH 1 billion worth of assets of those involved in criminal proceedings.
Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region are conducting searches in the offices of companies that supply food products for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This is happening as part of a criminal investigation into tax evasion. This is reported on the BEB website without specifying the names of the companies.
“Investigative actions are carried out on the basis of a court order to identify and seize documents and draft accounting and do not interfere with the legal activity of the enterprise. During the analysis of the tax invoices, the analysts of the BEB found that only during 2022-2023, the Ministry of Defense was supplied with food for a total amount of UAH 14.5 billion including VAT.”, – the message states.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the officials of the mentioned enterprises documented a number of non-commodity transactions for the purchase and supply of food products through controlled companies with signs of fictitiousness.
“Due to the replacement of the nomenclature and the overestimation of the cost of goods, they unjustifiably created expenses for the VAT tax credit. This made it possible to avoid paying taxes in particularly large amounts. Damages caused to the budget are confirmed by the corresponding conclusion of the analytical materials formed by the specialists of the BEB,” – claim the law enforcement officers.
