It became known how many churches were transferred to the OCU

As of February 24, 2022, only 685 churches have joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. At the same time, there are 8,097 churches of the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of the country.

The largest number of transitions to OCU took place in:

  • Kyiv region – 164 communities;
  • Khmelnytskyi region – 155 communities;
  • Vinnytsia region – 75 communities.

More details about the distribution of the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate by region:

  • Donetsk region – 683 churches;
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 526 churches;
  • Vinnytsia region – 526 churches;
  • Odesa region – 414 churches;
  • Chernihiv region – 348 churches;
  • Zaporizhzhia region – 291 churches;
  • Poltava region – 249 churches;
  • Kirovohrad region – 242 churches;
  • Sumy region – 191 churches;
  • Rivne region – 171 churches.

It is important to note:

Only 22 of these 8,097 churches clearly indicate in their name that they belong to the Moscow Patriarchate.
