Khmelnytskyi NPP will receive assistance from the IAEA to complete the construction of new units

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will provide technical support to Ukraine in the implementation of the project to complete power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnytsky NPP. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

During the meeting of the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko with the Director General of the IAEA Rafael Grossi, key issues regarding the launch of the project were discussed, as well as ensuring the protection of the country’s critical energy facilities.

Galushchenko said that Ukraine is in the final stage of negotiations with Bulgaria regarding the supply of reactors for new power units. The start of construction depends on the adoption of the relevant draft law in the Verkhovna Rada.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi confirmed the agency’s readiness to support the implementation of this project, stressing the importance of maintaining high standards of nuclear safety. He suggested launching a technical support mission to ensure the safe integration of new components into existing NPP systems.

We will remind you that on June 17, the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada approved draft law No. 11146, which provides for the placement and construction of new power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP. The next step will be its consideration in the parliament.
