Kolomoiskyi refused to pay the bail set by the court in the amount of 1 billion 877 million 360 thousand hryvnias

Today, September 25, the Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv refused to change the preventive measure for businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi, leaving the valid bail in the amount of 1 billion 877 million 360 thousand hryvnias. Kolomoisky petitioned to change this measure to house arrest or personal commitment. As informs UNIAN, the relevant decision was announced by investigating judge Oleksiy Glyan, noting that the decision to refuse to change the preventive measure is final and not subject to appeal.

During the meeting, Kolomoiskyi said that he did not intend to pay the bail set by the court, calling it a “criminal racket at the state level.” According to him, even before his arrest, he was warned about a possible bail in the amount of 3 billion hryvnias.

“I believe that this is a criminal racket that comes from the very top. And from the very beginning I was told that there would be 3 billion or something, even before I was imprisoned. I was warned by high-ranking SBU employees that there would be billion bail”, – said Kolomoiskyi.

The businessman emphasized that the amount of the pledge over the last year has decreased from approximately 3.9 billion to 1.8 billion hryvnias.

“The most important task is that I sit in prison. Here I sit”, – said Kolomoiskyi.

He also emphasized that his refusal to post bail is a matter of principle.

Lawyer Vyacheslav Kraglevych recalled that Kolomoiskyi’s term of detention was supposed to end on September 2, 2024, but the prosecution filed a motion to change the preventive measure from detention to bail.

In addition, the lawyer Oleksandr Lysak noted that the amount of the bail is too large and too much for Kolomoisky, so he fundamentally refuses to pay it. Lysak also added that there are no reasonable suspicions or risks that would require such measures.

Lawyer Oleg Pushkar emphasized that during the last year, while Kolomoiskyi was in custody, none of the risks referred to by the prosecution were confirmed: the businessman did not try to escape, did not influence witnesses and did not destroy documents.
