Kyiv court takes into custody suspects in murder of Kharkiv deputy mayor’s son
The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv has ruled to arrest two people suspected of involvement in the murder of Danylo Kuzmin, the son of Kharkiv Deputy Mayor Serhiy Kuzmin. The crime was committed in November in Austria. This was reported by the National Police and the Prosecutor General’s Office, taking into account the norms of international law and In order to effectively prosecute the suspects, the investigation into the suspects is being carried out in Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for both defendants.
According to “Ukrainian Pravda”, the suspects are Oleksandr Agoyev and Bohdan Ryzhuk. According to open sources, Ryzhuk is the stepson of Olesya Ilashchuk, who was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria at the end of 2022, as indicated in her declaration.
As reported by the police, on November 26, 2025, one of the district police departments of the Kharkiv region received a report about the disappearance of a 21-year-old citizen of Ukraine in Vienna. Criminal proceedings were initiated on this fact. Subsequently, Austrian law enforcement officers informed the Ukrainian side about the discovery of a burned-out car in Vienna, inside which was the body of an unidentified person. The examination confirmed that the deceased was a missing citizen of Ukraine.
The investigation has previously established that the attackers inflicted bodily injuries on the victim and, threatening to kill, forced him to provide access to an electronic cryptocurrency wallet. After that, the man was placed in the trunk of a Mercedes-Benz car, which was later set on fire.
As part of international cooperation, Austrian law enforcement agencies transmitted data on two Ukrainian citizens who could have been involved in the crime through the operational information exchange system. According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, after the murder, the suspects crossed the state border on November 26 and returned to Ukraine.
As a result of operational and investigative measures, the National Police officers established their location and detained both men in Odessa.
During searches in the hotel room where the suspects lived, as well as in the apartment and car, law enforcement officers seized foreign and national currency, mobile phones, clothing and other items that may have evidentiary value. All seized items were sent for expert examination.
On December 16, Ukrainian investigators reclassified the criminal offense under Part Two of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspects were officially informed of the suspicion, and on December 18, the court chose for them a preventive measure in the form of detention.
