Massive flooding in Spain: almost a hundred dead, mobile morgues are being delivered to Valencia

The floods that have swept through Spain have already killed 95 people, and the death toll could rise. This was reported by Reuters.

According to the source, a special military unit engaged in rescue operations will start searching in the worst-hit areas today with the help of sniffer dogs. The team also brought 50 mobile morgues with them.

According to meteorologists, on 29 October, some regions of Valencia received rainfall in eight hours, which is the annual average.

Trains between Madrid and Barcelona were cancelled, schools and other critical services were temporarily closed. Residents are asked to refrain from travelling.

Eyewitnesses describe how people were forced to climb on the roofs of cars to escape the water flow. Mountain roads turned into rivers, blowing down trees and destroying buildings. Videos on the web show collapsed bridges and piles of cars being washed away.

Spain has not yet recovered from a prolonged drought and record high temperatures. According to scientists, the increase in extreme weather events is linked to climate change, and the previous drought makes it difficult for the ground to absorb large volumes of water.
