Mastercard will join the bus transportation reform in Ukraine

The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine has started a partnership with Mastercard as part of the reform of bus transportation. This cooperation is aimed at combating the “shadow” market, the development of digital services and analytics of passenger flows, informs press service of the department.
The project was discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach with the President of Mastercard in Eastern Europe Yasemin Bedir and General Director of Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova Inga Andreeva.
The parties agreed to introduce digital services for passengers and carriers, analyze the structure of passenger traffic and assess the scale of illegal transportation, as well as create tools for market legalization.
“Our goal is to give the passenger the opportunity to choose only legal transportation, and the carrier to conveniently manage routes and develop business. Together with Mastercard, we will work on modern solutions for this area.” Serhii Derkach emphasized.
According to the Ministry’s estimates, more than 25% of passengers buy tickets on social networks and pay them directly to cards – this indicates a wide illegal segment in the industry. In addition, Derkach presented the Transport Data Hub project — a platform for collecting and analyzing transport data, which should become one of the key tools for the formation of state policy in the field of mobility and logistics.
