Media captured Trump dozing off during a speech by the King of Bahrain at a meeting of the Peace Council
US President Donald Trump found himself at the center of discussions after he closed his eyes during a speech by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at a meeting of the Peace Council. This was recorded live on Fox News. Viewers suggested that the head of state could simply have dozed off during the event.
This is not the first such incident. Trump has previously repeatedly mocked Joe Biden, calling him “Sleepy Joe.” At the same time, in recent years, the media has seen footage of Trump himself looking tired or sitting with his eyes closed during official events.
One of the first such episodes was a photo released by California Governor Gavin Newsom, where the US president is allegedly sleeping during an event. The White House then denied that the head of state had fallen asleep.
Governor Newsom’s press office joked at Donald Trump after a meeting of the “Peace Council” in Washington:
“This is not a photo of the Sleepy Don. He really is just sleeping.”.
Other opponents of the president also joined in the jokes. In particular, former Congressman Adam Kinzinger wrote:
“Poor, flabby Donald. He was completely exhausted.”
The White House responded by saying that Trump remains an energetic and focused leader.
Also, during one of the government meetings, Trump looked exhausted and often sat with his eyes closed, in particular during Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s speech on “transformational foreign policy.” After journalists’ remarks, the president explained that he had not slept, but only closed his eyes due to fatigue or boredom, emphasizing his energy and activity even at the age of 79.
