Military exercises involving nuclear weapons have begun in Belarus
Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) exercises have started in Belarus, during which planning for the use of nuclear weapons will be practiced. This is reported by Deutsche Welle.
More than two thousand servicemen from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan are taking part in the maneuvers. 450 units of weapons and equipment were involved in the exercises, including nine planes and helicopters, as well as more than 70 drones of various types.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that the training takes place within three programs: “Interaction-2025”, “Poisk-2025” and “Echelon-2025”. By order of Oleksandr Lukashenka, they were moved deep into the territory of the country.
“We deliberately moved the training away from the western and southern borders so that we would not be accused of various insinuations and possible provocations”, said the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, Major General Pavlo Muraveyko.
He also explained that within the scope of the maneuvers, planning for the use of nuclear weapons will be worked out, but without conducting the tests themselves.
“You cannot apply what, let’s say, threatens the whole world, general security. And how to plan it – we will learn, Muraveyko noted.
Completion of training is scheduled for September 6.
