NABU announced possible searches and handing over suspicions to its detectives and prosecutors of the SBU by the SBU

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) received information about the preparation of searches and the handing over of suspicions to their detectives, and probably also to the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. reported this by NABU director Semyon Krivonos.

According to Krivonos, the bureau received data from several sources that can be considered sufficiently reliable. He noted that in addition to suspicions, searches may also take place, this time on the basis of court orders.

Kryvonos suggested that such actions may be related to the fact that NABU had previously reported the suspicion to the general of the Security Service of Ukraine. He called the situation a “catastrophe” and emphasized that he sees in it asymmetrical actions in response.

“This very narrative from the SBU, that it is supposed to be revenge, is absurd. We have never left the principle of revenge. But what is being planned, if it is true, looks like revenge, he emphasized.

At the same time, the director of NABU emphasized that, despite information about possible suspicions and searches, cooperation with the SBU continues:

“We also directly conduct joint operations, conduct investigations and are in constant communication. I believe that they are trying to make us quarrel, but this will not happen. I am not disclosing information to conflict with the Security Service of Ukraine, but in order to stop the narratives about revenge.

He emphasized that the tension between the departments can be removed only through dialogue and action within the limits of the law. He called for the presentation of evidence against the detained detectives, to complete the investigation and to guarantee their right to a fair trial.

The director of NABU also noted that the situation has a negative impact on the team. Although there is no outflow of personnel, there is growing concern among detectives and prosecutors, especially those who deal with high-profile cases.

“There are detectives who were attacked because of specific cases. They are nervous because of the influence of the suspects, but despite this, we are moving forward and presenting suspicions to high-ranking officials, – he emphasized.

We would like to remind you that on September 2, NABU and SAP informed the former head of the cyber security department of the SBU, General Ilya Vityuk, of suspicion of illegal enrichment and unreliable declaration. According to the investigation, in December 2023, he purchased an apartment for 21.6 million hryvnias and registered it for a family member, while the contract indicated a price of 12.8 million hryvnias.

The SBU, reacting to the suspicion, said that it was announced after the arrest of NABU employees, although criminal proceedings regarding the possible illegal enrichment of Vityuk were opened almost a year and a half ago.
