NABU completes investigation of Granovsky case at Odesa Port Plant
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has completed the investigation of a large-scale corruption scheme at the Odesa Port Plant (OPZ), which caused losses to the state of over 94 million hryvnias. This is stated in the official messages departments
According to the investigation materials, the organizer of the scheme was the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation, the deputy head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Oleksandr Granovskyi. Together with accomplices, he created a scheme according to which OPZ sold mineral fertilizers to a certain company at significantly reduced prices. This company, in its turn, resold products to foreign companies at market prices, but the actual supply was provided by OPZ.
The scheme operated from March to December 2015, and as a result OPZ did not receive a profit in the amount of more than 94 million hryvnias. In March 2020, NABU announced suspicions against four participants of this scheme. Among them are Granovsky’s confidant, his accomplice, the deputy director of OPZ, the head of the plant’s department and the owner of a foreign company that participated in the scheme. The trustee and the owner of the company were declared wanted.
All suspects are charged with crimes under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position, which caused serious consequences, committed by a group of persons with a prior conspiracy). The accomplice was additionally charged under Part 5 of Article 27 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
