NABU exposed the former deputy head of the President’s Office in illegal enrichment of 15.7 million hryvnias
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported on suspicion of illegal enrichment of the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. According to the investigation, in the period from 2020 to 2022, the official acquired assets worth 17.1 million hryvnias, having an official income and savings of only a little more than 1.3 million hryvnias.
Thus, the difference between the cost of the purchased property and the official’s funds amounted to UAH 15.7 million.
It is noted that among the acquired property are two cars (Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen), two motorcycles (Honda and BMW), three parking spaces in Kyiv, an apartment in Lviv and a plot of land in Transcarpathia. In order to hide the illegal enrichment, the official registered most of the property to his brother, reserving the right of use.
The actions of the suspect are qualified under Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal enrichment). The crime was exposed thanks to the journalistic investigation of “Ukrainian Pravda” and the assistance of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.
