On the eve of Christmas, the National Bank of Ukraine presented a new commemorative coin called “The Spirit of Christmas”. This was reported by the NBU press service.
The denomination of the coin is 10 hryvnias. It is made of 925 silver and has an exquisite decorative design. The coin features elements of double-sided local gilding, as well as an insert with a diamond with a diameter of 1.5 mm.
The obverse depicts a stylized grandfather, in the center of which is a straw angel – a symbol of protection and good news. The background of the composition resembles a window through which the starry sky shines on Christmas Eve. One of the stars represents the Star of Bethlehem, in the center of which is a diamond.
The reverse side of the coin is dedicated to the traditional Ukrainian Christmas dinner. It depicts a family at a table with twelve lean dishes – kutya, varenyky, pampukhy, fish and other delicacies. The images of family members are stylized as celestial bodies: the mother symbolizes the Sun, the father – the Moon, and the children – the stars. Garlic is also present on the table as a traditional amulet.
Previously, the NBU also issued a commemorative coin dedicated to the special operation “Web” and the Security Service of Ukraine.
