NBU warns about phishing emails with forged signatures of bank employees

The National Bank of Ukraine warns of a new phishing campaign, during which fraudsters send emails with malicious attachments and forged signatures on behalf of NBU employees, in particular the Financial Monitoring Department. This was reported by the NBU press service.

“Today, we have detected a fraudulent campaign of sending letters with malicious attachments that imitate an official letter from the NBU, in particular from the Financial Monitoring Department with a request to provide documents,” the bank’s press service reported.

The National Bank urges not to open files or follow links from such letters in order to avoid infection with malicious software or theft of personal data. It is noted that for official e-mail correspondence, NBU employees use exclusively corporate mail with the domain @bank.gov.ua.

In addition, cases of fraud related to the substitution of QR codes in public places have been recorded in the capital. Criminals place fake codes that lead to fake web resources that imitate online payment services in order to obtain personal and payment data of citizens.
