The court extended the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Farion for another two months

The court decided to keep 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who is suspected of murdering linguist Iryna Farion, in custody. About this reported Office of the Prosecutor General.

The Galician District Court of Lviv extended Zinchenko’s preventive measure in the form of detention without bail for another 60 days – until January 12, 2025 inclusive.

During the judge’s stay in the conference room near the cage, a conflict occurred with the suspect in the courtroom. Women wearing T-shirts with Zinchenko’s image shouted “Freedom to Vyacheslav Zinchenko” and “Nazis”, to which others present responded with shouts of “Shame!”.

Circumstances of the murder of Iryna Farion On July 19, at 7:30 p.m., the police received a report of a shooting on Masaryk Street in Lviv. An unknown man opened fire on a passerby, who turned out to be linguist Iryna Farion.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a head injury. Doctors performed an emergency operation, but the woman was in a deep coma and was connected to a ventilator. Around 11:00 p.m., her heart failed and she died.

The investigation is being conducted under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for a punishment of up to 15 years of imprisonment for intentional murder. The main versions of the investigation are social and political activities of Farion or personal dislike for her. On suspicion of murder, the police detained 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who came from Dnipro.
