Nighttime attack by Russian drones on ports in Odessa region led to damage to elevators, warehouses and ships

On the night of December 26, Russian drones attacked the port infrastructure of the Odessa region. Odesa, as well as the Izmail and Odessa districts, were hit. As a result of the shelling, elevators, warehouses of civilian enterprises, a barge and ships under the flags of Slovakia and the Republic of Palau were damaged. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Reconstruction, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

Fires broke out at the sites of the hits, which are being extinguished by rescuers. Port workers are inspecting the damaged facilities. Power outages were also recorded – repair teams are already working to restore power supply and stable operation of ports.

In addition, the Russian army struck a DTEK energy facility in the south of the region. The damage is assessed as serious, and it will take time to restore the equipment.

An air alert was declared in the region at 00:15 due to the threat of a group of UAVs moving in the direction of Katlabug – Izmail – Reni. The first explosions in Izmail were heard at around 00:30, later the attack was repeated. At 01:21, explosions were also heard in Odessa – drones were entering from the Black Sea. The air alert was canceled at 03:09.
