Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree establishing the Day of Radio Electronic Combat Forces

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the establishment of a new professional holiday — the Day of Radio Electronic Warfare Forces (ERW), which will be celebrated every year on September 12.

The document emphasizes that the introduction of the holiday is aimed at the development of national military traditions and the recognition of the role of electronic warfare forces in repelling and deterring armed aggression against Ukraine. In addition, these troops are responsible for the electromagnetic shielding of critical state infrastructure facilities. The decree entered into force on the day of its publication — September 12, 2025.

Ukraine’s electronic warfare troops, known as electronic warfare troops, are a branch of special forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their purpose is to ensure combat activity in the field of electronic warfare. The main tasks of these units are to gain dominance in the airwaves, protect the strategic control systems of troops and weapons from intentional interference by the enemy, disrupt the operation of the control systems of the enemy’s troops, as well as reduce the effectiveness of the use of its combat equipment through the spread of radio-electronic interference.

Electronic warfare troops are subordinate to the Main Directorate of Electronic and Cyber ​​Warfare of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their structure includes separate battalions and electronic warfare units located in different regions of the country, in particular in Lviv, Zhytomyr, Odesa, and Cherkasy.
