“I called Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory. I’m now off to London where I’ll tell you more about the result before I leave the job of Prime Minister to which I’ve given all my strength.”, – said Sunak.

At the same time, the prime minister took responsibility for the defeat of his political power, noting that he has “a lot to learn and a lot to think about.”

Keir Starmer will be the next head of the UK government. According to him, there will be no changes in the issue of support for Ukraine. The official announcement of the new prime minister will take place after an audience with the British king.

Meanwhile, the most common word on the covers of British publications today is landslide (“convincing victory”). Accordingly, they commented on the results of the parliamentary elections. Starmer’s party, according to the BBC, gets a parliamentary majority – currently they probably have 370 seats, and 326 are needed to form a government. The results of exit polls promised Labor about 400 seats.

The Conservative Party, whose government will end its mandate, currently has only 90 seats. According to the voting results, they may lose up to 200 seats.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak announced the holding of early elections to the House of Commons of the Parliament. He announced that he met with King Charles III, he asked for the dissolution of Parliament. The monarch approved his request.
