Poland reports progress in establishing a tribunal for Russia
The international community is approaching the creation of a special tribunal that will consider crimes of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. This structure will function within the framework of the Council of Europe. This was stated by the Minister of Justice of Poland, Adam Bodnar, informs PAP.
During a speech in Luxembourg, Bodnar noted that a tribunal to investigate the crimes of Russian aggression could be established in the near future. This tribunal will specialize exclusively in questions related to the decisions on aggressive war against Ukraine, in particular, who made and directed the decisions to attack the country.
The minister emphasized that the international community is already approaching the creation of this institution, and Ukraine actively supports this initiative. He emphasized the importance of bringing to justice not only the commanders who gave the orders to commit crimes, as in Buch and Mariupol, but also those who made the decision to start the war, such as Vladimir Putin and Sergei Shoigu.
It will be recalled that Anton Korynevich, the ambassador on special assignment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, recently outlined the most promising format for the establishment of the tribunal. According to preliminary forecasts, a special tribunal for Putin and his accomplices may be established by the end of 2024.
