On the night of May 11, around 2:00 a.m., Russian troops launched a large-scale air attack on the territory of Ukraine, using 108 Shahed attack drones and imitation drones of various models at once. About this reported Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to official information, enemy aircraft were launched simultaneously from different directions — from the territory of the Russian Federation (Bryansk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk), the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhia region (Primorsk) and the occupied Crimea (Gvardiyske).
Aviation, air defense units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare forces, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attack.
As of this morning, Ukrainian air defense confirmed the successful destruction of 60 Shahed attack drones in different regions of the country — in the east, north, south and center. Another 41 enemy simulated drones were lost from Russian control — they did not harm Ukrainian territory.
Despite the effective operation of air defense systems, the Sumy region was damaged as a result of the attack. Details of damage or casualties are currently under investigation.
This is one of the largest drone attacks of the Russian Federation in recent weeks, which once again proved that Ukraine remains at the epicenter of large-scale aerial terror, but also demonstrates the power and coherence of the air defense forces.
