Who faces fines for wearing camouflage clothing in Ukraine
People in military uniforms are often seen on the streets of Ukrainian cities, but many citizens do not know that not everyone can wear military-style clothes.

Due to the introduction of martial law in Ukraine against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion, people dressed in camouflage uniforms are often seen on the streets, however, not all of them are military personnel. Many of them do not know that civilians wearing military uniforms have been violating the current legislation since 2019. About this informs mobilizatsia.novyny.live.
The current Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses stipulates that the illegal wearing of a military uniform with the insignia of servicemen is punishable by:
– warning with confiscation of the form;
– fine from 2,550 to 6,800 hryvnias and confiscation of the uniform or involvement in community service for 30 to 40 hours with confiscation of the uniform. The final penalty will depend on the number of repeat violations.
Military uniforms have the right to be worn exclusively by servicemen who are conscripted during military service, reservists, cadets, lyceum students and retirees with the appropriate permission. At the same time, appearing in a public place even in a t-shirt with pixel camouflage will be considered an offense.
The Verkhovna Rada is currently considering a draft law on the military police, which may increase responsibility. According to it, the new law enforcement agency is offered permission to detain people in military uniform without relevant documents for a day in order to find out their status. If it turns out that the detainee is a civilian, he will be released and will not be fined.
