One of Russia’s largest chemical plants halted operations after drone strike
As a result of the drone attack, the Nevinnomyssky Azot enterprise in the Stavropol Territory, one of the largest producers of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers in Russia, was stopped. This is reported by rosZMI.
The plant, which is part of the Eurochem group of billionaire Andrii Melnychenko, was hit by 13 drones. As a result of the attack, the defense system against drones was damaged. In one of the workshops, the windows and doors were broken, the interior and the roof of the dining room were damaged. Production at the plant was temporarily stopped.
According to official information, the enterprise produces substances that can be used in the production of ammunition and rocket fuel. In particular, the plant produces up to 1 million tons of ammonia and 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate every year. “Nevinnomyssky Azot” and another enterprise of the group – “Novomoskovskiy Azot” – supplied tens of thousands of tons of acetic and nitric acid, which can be used in the production of explosives, to the plant in Dzerzhinsk.
At the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed, that one of the targets was a facility of the Russian Federation in the Stavropol Territory. The press service emphasized that the plant was used by the Russians to ensure armed aggression against Ukraine. A series of explosions rang out on the territory of the object, after which a fire broke out. The work of Russian air defense directly in the area of the target was also recorded, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
