One of the two promised Swedish radar reconnaissance aircraft has arrived in Ukraine
One of the two Swedish Saab 340 AEW&C radar reconnaissance aircraft promised to Ukraine arrived in the country and made a test flight over Lviv. About this informs Clash Report.
“Equipped with the Erieye AESA radar, the aircraft can detect air and sea targets up to 400 kilometers away. It will strengthen Ukraine’s defense against cruise missiles and support incoming F-16 aircraft through Link 16 integration,” – the message says.
We will remind that in May of last year, Sweden announced the transfer of two Saab 340 AEW&C (ASC 890) long-range radar detection and control aircraft to Ukraine as part of the then largest package of military aid worth SEK 13.3 billion.
These aircraft are equipped with the Erieye PS-890 radar, capable of detecting air targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. They can simultaneously monitor up to 300 objects and transmit information in real time to command posts or fighters.
Thanks to modern communication systems, the Saab 340 AEW&C can perform the functions of an “air command post”, coordinating the actions of various units.
