OpenAI creates its own social network based on ChatGPT

OpenAI is developing its own social network based on ChatGPT’s image generation functionality. About this informs The Verge.

The new project provides an interface in the format of a news feed, built on the basis of the visual capabilities of ChatGPT. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, is currently gathering feedback on the initiative from outside parties. It is not yet known whether this platform will be implemented as a separate application or will become part of the existing ChatGPT interface.

The possible launch of the social network could intensify the competition between Sam Altman and billionaire Elon Musk. OpenAI’s entry into the social platform market also increases competition with Meta, which is preparing to add a news feed to a separate app for its AI assistant.

The first reports that Meta was working on its own ChatGPT counterpart surfaced a few months ago, to which Altman noted:

“Okay, maybe we’ll make a social app.”

The social network that OpenAI is building would potentially provide the company with unique, real-time data — similar to what Twitter and Meta already collect — that could greatly enhance the training of its AI models.
