Orban accuses EU of attempts to overthrow his government
During a rally in Budapest, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused the executive power of the European Union of trying to overthrow his government and impose a “puppet regime” on Hungary. These accusations were made against the background of growing support for the opposition party “Tisza”, which is headed by Peter Madyar. About this informs Reuters.
Orbán said that his “sovereign policy” regarding the war in Ukraine and the migration crisis does not meet the interests of Brussels.
“We know that they want to force us to go to war [in Ukraine], that they want to impose their migrants on us… and give our children to gender activists“, Orbán declared, speaking to his supporters.
Orbán, known for his long-standing conflict with the EU and support for a pro-Russian position, is convinced that the EU wants to change the government in Hungary to a new party that would follow his instructions.
His statement came after a poll showed the moderate center-right Tisza party ahead of the far-right anti-immigrant Fidesz party led by Orbán in terms of support among some voters. The leader of Tysy, Peter Magyar, entered the country’s political life at the beginning of this year, taking advantage of voter dissatisfaction with the actions of other opposition parties that could not effectively oppose Fidesz.
The next national elections in Hungary are scheduled for early 2026.
We will remind, earlier Viktor Orban expressed concern about the “Victory Plan” of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and called on European leaders to negotiate with Russia.
