Owner of Vodafone Ukraine receives Cabinet of Ministers’ permission to privatise UMCC

On October 11, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to privatize JSC “United Mining and Chemical Company” (OGHC), allowing “Tsemin Ukraine” LLC, which is owned by Azerbaijan’s NEQSOL Holding, to acquire this enterprise. About this reported Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, the winner of the auction offered almost UAH 3.938 billion for OGHC, and also undertook to invest at least UAH 400 million in the technical modernization of the enterprise.

Taras Melnychuk, a representative of the Verkhovna Rada in the Cabinet of Ministers, noted that “Tsemin Ukraine” purchased 1 billion 944 million ordinary registered shares, which is 100% of the company’s authorized capital.

As reported, “Tsemin Ukraine” was the only participant in the auction.

“Privatization of state-owned enterprises is an important element of the development of our economy and increased investment. It is also transparency and reduction of corruption risks, which is a systemic policyShmyhal stressed.

To conclude the agreement, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers must be confirmed within five days, after which the State Property Fund of Ukraine (PFMU) will announce the final decision. An important role in the process is also played by the inspection currently carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine.

Earlier, on October 8, the Prozorro.Prodazhi platform announced the successful holding of an online auction for the sale of the state stake in OGHC. The winner of the auction was Tsemin Ukraine LLC, which is part of the international NEQSOL Holding, which conducts business in 11 countries and owns the second largest mobile operator in Ukraine — Vodafone Ukraine. The founder of NEQSOL Holding is a citizen of Azerbaijan, Nasib Hasanov.
