People’s Deputy Anna Skorokhod released from custody on bail of over UAH 3 million

People’s Deputy Anna Skorokhod was released from the detention center after posting bail of over 3 million hryvnias and is currently in Kyiv with an electronic monitoring bracelet. As reported by the media with reference to lawyer Oleg Burgela, the bail amount of 3 million 28 thousand hryvnias was paid for her by third parties.

According to the lawyer, the persons who transferred the funds are not disclosed. The lawyer emphasized that this money does not belong to the MP, who earlier during the court hearing stated that she did not have such financial capabilities.

Oleg Burgela also reported that the defense has already filed an appeal for a preventive measure. In the complaint, the lawyers ask the court to review the amount of bail and cancel the electronic bracelet, noting that as a MP, Skorokhod has no restrictions on movement within the territory of Ukraine.

As previously reported, on December 5, NABU and SBU officers conducted a search of the MP’s apartment and declared her suspected of extorting a bribe as part of a group of individuals. According to the investigation, Skorokhod allegedly organized the activities of a criminal group that offered a businessman $250,000 to resolve the issue with the National Security and Defense Council regarding the introduction of economic sanctions against a competing company.
