Petition to increase salaries for kindergarten teachers received 25 thousand votes

The petition posted on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the demand to increase the salary of teachers of preschool education institutions and preschool units, dialed 25 thousand votes are required for consideration.

According to the government platform, the petition was launched on February 3 and as of April 1, it had reached the required number of signatures.

“We appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine! We, the citizens of Ukraine, teachers, parents and all those who care, appeal to raise the wages of teachers of preschool education institutions and preschool units, because the current level of payment for their work is unacceptable and does not allow us to provide decent living conditions.”, says the text of the petition.

The document emphasizes that currently a 12th grade kindergarten teacher receives approximately 7,000 hryvnias per month. The authors of the petition demand an increase in wages to the level of at least 15 thousand hryvnias with further adjustment depending on inflation.

“Preschool education is the foundation of the country’s future. A teacher is the first person who lays the foundations of a child’s knowledge, skills and social development. As long as the state ignores the problems of teachers who are forced to survive on humiliating wages, we are losing the best specialists, and together with them, quality preschool education for our children. We call on everyone who cares to support this petition and demand justice!”, – note the authors of the petition.
