Poland introduces restrictions on flights near the borders of Ukraine and Belarus

New restrictions on the use of airspace will be in effect in the eastern part of Poland from June 10 to September 9, 2026. The decision was made at the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of the Polish Armed Forces for reasons of national security.

The new restricted zone EP R131 will replace the current zone EP R130, which was in effect from March 10 to June 9, 2026. The restrictions will apply to the airspace from the earth’s surface to the FL95 level, i.e. up to approximately three kilometers. They will not apply to most passenger aircraft operating at much higher altitudes.

The zone will be active 24 hours a day and, depending on the location, will extend approximately 20–50 kilometers deep into Polish territory. From sunset to sunrise, a complete flight ban will apply there, with the exception of military aircraft and take-offs and landings at the Depulcy-Krulewski airport approved by military authorities.

During the day, flights will be allowed for certain categories of aircraft. In particular, these are manned aircraft with a flight plan, a working transponder and constant radio communication with the dispatching services, as well as flights with special statuses HEAD, STATE, SAR, HOSP, MEDEVAC and FFR.

Civilian drones will be able to fly only on condition that they do not violate the air defense identification zones of Belarus and Ukraine. Other flights are possible after approval by the operational service of the Air Operations Center of the Polish Air Force.

PAŻP emphasized that the restrictions are being introduced to ensure state security. Flights without mandatory radio communication, a transponder, and a flight plan will be allowed only in specially designated TRA zones after agreement with Polish military structures.
