Poland will continue to protect Ukrainian refugees: temporary status for those without a passport

The Minister of Defense of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysh, warned that Ukrainian men who have military duty in Ukraine, but have not fulfilled it, will not have their stay in the country extended. At the same time, Poland will continue to protect all Ukrainian refugees, regardless of their gender. Those without valid passports will be granted temporary “protected” status.

According to Kervinskyi, Warsaw will definitely find a method that will allow to settle this problem by resorting to “wise and rational” actions. In particular, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that all regulations concerning Ukrainians on the territory of Poland are prescribed in local legislation. That is, Poland will continue the protection of Ukrainian refugees, which is currently in effect only until June 30, and “those who do not have passports will be subject to temporary protection.”
Poland will cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities to issue new passports to Ukrainians as soon as possible.
Polish authorities will also assist refugees in obtaining other necessary documents, such as birth certificates and marriage certificates.
