Psychologists and psychotherapists will be certified in Ukraine

In the second reading, the Verkhovna Rada supported draft law No. 12030, which introduces the certification of specialists in the field of mental health. About this reported in the Ministry of Health.
“The adopted law establishes the rules and principles of the mental health care system in Ukraine. It is aimed at ensuring access to quality services, protecting the rights of people with mental disorders and other problems related to mental health, preventing the occurrence of mental disorders and eliminating harmful factors affecting the mental health of Ukrainians”, says the message.
The law provides for the introduction of a system of continuous professional development and certification of specialists in the field of mental health. It establishes uniform certification standards: psychologists will undergo it through the National Commission, and psychotherapists through self-regulatory organizations with international recognition. This will provide Ukrainians with access to qualified specialists, and specialists with the opportunity to receive official recognition of their professional activities.
For the first time, at the legislative level, significant attention is paid to the issue of maintaining mental health in the workplace. The law requires employers to develop and implement a psychosocial support program for employees.
