Sweden transferred gas turbines to Ukraine to diversify energy production

Sweden handed Ukraine three gas turbines with a total cost of 95 million euros for the diversification of energy production. This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sibiga.

“This is extremely important on the eve of winter. Sweden is a leader in strengthening Ukraine’s energy security through the Fund for Energy Support of Ukraine, – explained Andriy Sybiga.

Information about the transfer of the turbines was made public during a meeting between the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybyga and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Maria Malmer-Stenergard in Uzhgorod on September 5, 2025.

We will remind you that on August 22, during the question hour for the government, the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba said that Ukraine is more than 70% ready for winter. He also reported on the accumulated fuel reserves. According to the minister, there are almost 11 billion cubic meters of gas and 2.4 million tons of coal in the warehouses. In addition, there are 189 plants that produce both heat and electricity.

In August and September 2025, Russia intensified its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. As a result of the shelling, Sumy, Nizhyn, Chornomorsk, as well as parts of Kherson and Kharkiv regions remained without electricity.
